Sunflower oil and blackcurrant seed oil are a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) of the omega-6 series, in particular both contain a good percentage of linoleic acid. Black currant oil is particularly rich in gamma linolenic acid, tocopherols and phytosterols. Polyunsaturated fatty acids have special dietary and functional properties. Several studies have shown that the application of omega-3 and omega-6 PUFAs can be very useful in the most common skin diseases, such as for example dermatoses.

  • Fish oil – some studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids, of which fish oil is particularly rich, have beneficial effects on the skin and coat of dogs, making it more shiny. (Responses of dogs to dietary omega-3 fatty acids John E Bauer)
  • Viola Tricolor – also known as wild pansy, contains flavonoids, saponins and mucilages, useful for promoting normal skin function.
  • Nigella Sativa – the seeds of Nigella Sativa have a high nutritional value; they contain fixed and essential oils, proteins, alkaloids and saponins. It has been shown that a large part of the biological activity of Nigella sativa seeds, in particular its beneficial action on the immune system, is due to the thymequinone, the main component of the essential oil, but which is also present in the fixed oil. (Pharmacological and toxicological properties of Nigella sativa B. H. Ali Gerald Blunden).

I want to use CortiAdapt® for my cat. It weighs 3 kg, so the recommended daily dose is 1 ml. I don’t understand if I need to dose 1ml in the morning and 1ml in the evening or 0.5ml in the morning and 0.5 in the evening?

The recommended daily dose is a dose that is safe for the animal and has the desired effect. If the recommended daily dose is 1 ml, then the dosage is considered: 0.5 in the morning and 0.5 in the evening. Thus, the animal receives the recommended daily dose of the product daily.

Why is CortiAdapt dietary complementary feed not comparable to a product (or complementary feed) characterized by a single active ingredient (mono component)?

CortiAdapt® acts through a pool of phytotherapeutic substances that, when mixed appropriately, work at 360 degrees for the well-being of the animal’s skin.In fact, it contains various active ingredients such as black currant, Nigella sativa and Viola tricolor which, acting in synergy, guarantee a efficacy to the product not comparable to the intake of a single component.

Can I use CortiAdapt® in a puppy?

Yes, its formulation is also suitable for puppies.

Accidental ingestion of whole product packaging

We remind you that it is good practice to keep the unopened package away from the reach of children and animals, as indicated in the warnings on labels and boxes. The greatest risk in the event that a dog ingests the entire contents of the package is that it may in a hurry swallow pieces of plastic, much more harmful than the active ingredients contained in the product. However, given the variability of the subject with respect to body weight, breed and age, the advice we would like to give is to consult your veterinarian who will be able to assess the situation from time to time by knowing the dog thoroughly.

Are Dogoteka products safe for my dog or cat?

We remind that in all our complementary feeds the active ingredients used in composition and additives are appropriately dosed to ensure a beneficial effect on the animal, do not cause side effects or any toxicity. They follow the EUROPEAN guidelines of the Feed Material Register which lists all natural products allowed in the animal field.

It is therefore advisable to follow the recommended daily portions.

What are feeds with particular nutritional or dietary purposes?

Dietary feeds are able to satisfy a particular nutritional purpose of animals, whose functions (digestive process, absorption or metabolism) are likely to be temporarily altered or are temporarily altered in an irreversible form. From the intake of this type of feed, animals benefit because they meet the needs of their health.
Food for animals intended for particular nutritional purposes, known by the acronym PARNUTS (Feed for Particular Nutritional Purposes) are regulated by Directive 2008/38 EC.
Compared to the category of complementary feeds, for complementary feeds intended for particular nutritional purposes a precise claim is defined, a period of use, a qualitative-quantitative composition profile suitable for satisfying a specific nutritional purpose and the intervention of the figure of the veterinarian before use or in case of extension of the period of use.
